Geography

Tatarstan is advantageously located in the center of the European part of Russia, at the confluence of two major rivers – the Volga and the Kama. The capital of Tatarstan - Kazan is located at a distance of 797 km east of Moscow. The total area of the republic is 68 thousand square kilometers. It is part of the Volga Federal District and borders with the Kirov, Ulyanovsk, Samara, Orenburg regions, Bashkortostan, Mari El, Udmurt Republic, Chuvashia. The largest cities of the republic are Kazan (the capital), Naberezhnye Chelny, Almetyevsk, Nizhnekamsk, Yelabuga, Innopolis - the silicon valley of Russia and the first city of IT specialists.

Population

3.8 million people live in Tatarstan, and within a radius of 1000 km about 50% of the population of Russia. The population of Kazan is 1 million 257 thousand people. 76% of the population are urban residents, 24% are rural residents. 173 nationalities.

Logistic benefits

There are 3 airports in the Republic of Tatarstan.

Kazan International Airport named after G.M. Tukai. The airport is one of the largest transport and logistics hubs in Eurasia and the largest in terms of passenger traffic in the Volga region. There are regular international flights from 36 cities around the world, for example, from Frankfurt, Istanbul, Dubai, Prague, Baku, Budapest, etc. The number of direct flights from Moscow to Kazan totals 18 flights per day, the flight time is 1 hour 15 minutes; from St. Petersburg to Kazan - 3 flights per day, the flight time is 2 hours 5 minutes. By 2024, it is planned to open a new terminal and 12 new direct destinations.

Nizhnekamsk International Airport (Begishevo) named after N.V. Lemaev. Due to its advantageous location, Begishevo Airport serves not only passengers from nearby cities and districts of the Republic of Tatarstan, but also residents of the Udmurt Republic and Bashkortostan. The airport operates flights to 19 destinations, including Anapa, Yekaterinburg, Antalya, Dushanbe, Hurghada, Moscow, St. Petersburg and others. The flight schedule of Begishevo - Moscow consists of 9 flights, the flight time is 1 hour 40 minutes. There is a daily flight from St. Petersburg, the flight time of which is 2 hours and 10 minutes.

Bugulma Airport is designed to serve domestic flights, accepts cargo and passenger aircraft. It has the status of a regional and federal air port. Charter flights abroad are launched in the summer.

Train (1 880 km. railway tracks) is one of the most common and budget modes of transport. Traveling inside Russia, you can get to Kazan and other major cities of the republic from its different regions. At the moment, the Kazan-Moscow train schedule consists of 19 flights per day; Kazan- St. Petersburg consists of 3 flights per day.

Economy, industry

One of the leading regions of the Russian Federation. The gross regional product in 2020 amounted to 2 trillion 447. rubles, investments in fixed assets – 605.8 billion rubles.

USD 1 million of foreign direct investment per day, 50% of the production - for export; 164 partner countries.

Largest enterprises: PJSC TATNEFT, JSC TAIF, PJSC KAMAZ, Kazan Aviation Plant named after V.I. S.P. Gorbunov - a branch of PJSC Tupolev, PJSC Kazan Helicopter Plant, JSC Zelenodolsk Plant named after Gorky.

Investment infrastructure

The only region in Russia with 7 federal investment sites (SEZ "Alabuga", SEZ "Innopolis", PSEDA "Naberezhnye Chelny", PSEDA "Mendeleevsk", PSEDA "Zelenodolsk", PSEDA "Chistopol", PSEDA "Nizhnekamsk").
